CD and DVD packaging: Country Pop

Examples of the CD and DVD packages used for the "Country Pop" PBS program.

CDs, DVDs, and box set: Moments to Remember

For the PBS special "Moments to Remember: Golden Hits of the '50s and '60s", I designed packaging for DVD and CD box sets, including the slipcase box for the CDs to sit inside.

CD covers: My Music Rock Pop & Doowop

I designed a series of singles featuring classic rock, pop & doowop groups; these are two of the twenty or more covers I did.

DVD packages: MyMusic Soul Rewind

For this project, I designed two DVD packages for "Soul Rewind". Yes indeed, more Aretha Franklin!

DVD packages: Doo Wop Classic Masters

I've posted far fewer album covers in the past 6 months, and a big part of that has been due to how much work I've done with TJL Productions, who produce CD and DVD box sets for PBS programs. I'm finally getting around to posting some of the work I do for them -- and there's been a lot!

For this first project, I designed the MyMusic template for all of their releases and laid out four DVD packages for Doo Wop Classic Masters.

CD covers: Ethan Kent

Ethan asked me to do his album cover for Work in Progress as well as two single covers, posters, press materials, and other items for his upcoming release.

CD cover: Yung Ray Millz

Yung Ray wanted me to put his photo in an upbeat urban environment.

CD cover: Paper Chaser$

This group asked for their names to be on the backs of playing cards. Shield logo supplied by client.

CD cover: Adam Farouk

A second cover for Adam Farouk; they wanted a very simple image and typography.

CD cover: Carlebach

Cover art for an audiobook release. The publisher uses a rectangular format instead of the usual square cover art. The cover uses art repurposed from a very old Torah.

CD cover: Our Vintage Film

OVF had a clear vision for this cover: an image of a post-apocalyptic (or pre-apocalyptic!) world at sunset/sunrise, with a selection of specific objects washing onto a deserted beach. This is easily one of the most complex covers I've done, since the spherical world, the guitarist, the strange sunset, and all of the individual objects needed to be composited into the scene.

CD cover: John Cate

The client had a very specific concept for this cover: a piece of linen with an X written on it in blood, one corner turned down to reveal two eagles in the sky. I painted X's on a bunch of old t-shirts, added fabric texture, and composited the image.

CD cover: Kayden & Sapphira

Cover for a single by this dance/electronica duo.

CD cover: Ciph Boogie

A single and album cover for Ciph Boogie, expanded to a digipak.

CD cover: CrossTape

A post-apocalyptic cover for CrossTape.

CD cover: Luke Kaufman

Luke requested an "80s Urban Cowboy look".

CD cover: dysFUNKtional

Funk band dysFUNKtional asked for a pair of covers for their Back II the Future singles; the first had a Christmas theme, while the second completely destroyed the first cover with fire, bullet holes, graffiti, torn paper, spiderwebs and smoke; they even sent detailed pencils of exactly where to place all the bulletholes and flames. One of the most complex covers I've been asked to do... but lots of fun.

CD cover: Marla Maples

I was contacted to do a cover for Marla's album at 4:30pm, and had to deliver the final at 5:30pm to be on iTunes before her Entertainment Tonight appearance the next day! While things got a bit delayed, the album made it online in time; this was still one of the quickest covers I've ever had to do, but I'm very happy with how it turned out.

CD cover: Lorenzo Luongo

Lorenzo wanted a retro dance club looking cover, and he and I collaborated over many days on this one. I love the warm, fuzzy look of it.

CD cover: Richard Sinclair

Richard wanted an abstract cover using cubes and a spectrum of colors; this is the image I put together.

CD covers: Baynes

I've done several covers for Baynes, using custom illustrations from the amazing Jen Seng.

CD cover: Maya de Luna

Maya had very, very specific requirements for her album cover, detailing everything from the placement of the seahorse to the appearance of the shadows and tones on each part of her face; the fact that she only spoke French and I only speak English made this a bit of a tricky project! If it wasn't for Google Translate and a French-speaking friend, this cover wouldn't have happened.

CD cover: Will Hummel

Will Hummel wanted a retro look inspired by Blue Note album covers of the 50s. I ended up going a little more space-age cool with it in the end; it was a ton of fun to do.
